Long-distance hiking trails

By long-distance hiking trails we mean longer hiking trails that cover between 6 and 30 daily stages and are generally somewhat more demanding due to their length.

By multi-day hikes we mean hiking trails that comprise at least 2 and a maximum of 5 daily stages. These are hut hikes, mountain hikes or enjoyable beginners' tours.

In Schladming-Dachstein you will find various packages for long-distance hiking trails that perfectly combine tour planning and accommodation. So you can experience the mountains of the region in a relaxed way.

Yes, most mountain huts in the Schladming-Dachstein region have an electricity connection.

Depending on the location and facilities, however, electricity may be limited at times - especially in huts with solar power or generators.

It is therefore always advisable to take a flashlight or power bank with you.

Due to the altitude and limited supply, vegan or gluten-free meals can only be offered to a limited extent.

Some huts make an effort to accommodate special dietary requirements if these are announced in advance.

Hikers with special dietary requirements are advised to bring their own products or snacks.

If you have to cancel the stage plan or descend into the valley earlier, please inform the hut you have booked immediately that you will not be arriving.

This is important so that no search operation is triggered.

In the event of injuries or emergencies, call the Alpine emergency number 140 and, if possible, stay in a safe place.

Cell phone reception in the Schladminger Tauern is very limited.

In some valleys or altitudes there is no network reception, especially between the mountain huts.

Important emergency numbers (e.g. Alpine emergency number 140) should be stored in your cell phone before you set off.

The best way to get there is by public transport. The starting points for our multi-day hikes are easily accessible by public transport. Otherwise, it depends on the hike you have chosen. It is best to check the respective tour description for more information.

There are currently no hikes with luggage transport offered in the Schladming-Dachstein region.

Yes, as a general rule, you are always required to bring your own hut sleeping bag when staying overnight in a hut.

Manche Touren sind grundsätzlich auch bei Regenwetter möglich. Hier gilt jedenfalls erhöhte Vorsicht aufgrund der Rutschgefahr. Vor hochalpinen Übergängen mit ausgesetzten Stellen raten wir allerdings ab.
