Vacation with dog in Schladming-Dachstein
Hiking & walking
With around 1,000 kilometers of hiking trails and 300 mountain lakes in the Schladming-Dachstein region, there are numerous hikes that are also suitable for four-legged friends. However, we ask you to stay on the marked trails and keep your dog on a lead. We must point out that the Alpinsteig Höll to Riesachsee is not suitable for dogs due to the many steps and sometimes steep ladders. In addition, dogs are not allowed on hikes at the head of the Obertal valley from the Eschachalm (e.g. to the Duisitzkarsee or Keinprechthütte), to the Moaralmsee/Gumpental, in the Ramsau alpine pasture area from the Neustattalm to the Bachlalm and in the Sölktal from the Trogermühle in Mössna towards the Knallalm , which we ask you to respect!
There are many suitable paths in the region for leisurely walks with your dog. There are dog stations with bags along the routes - please use these and dispose of dog waste properly. Dogs must also be kept on a lead throughout Styria.
In winter, we ask you not to enter the groomed cross-country ski trails and to use the designated winter hiking trails instead.
Dog-friendly accommodation
Here you will find our accommodations where pets are welcome. If not explicitly mentioned, please check with the landlord beforehand whether the dog is allowed to stay in the room alone.
Correct handling of grazing livestock
There are a few recommendations to follow to ensure conflict-free coexistence on alpine pastures and meadows - especially if you are out and about with dogs. Here are a few tips for people and dogs, as it is the responsibility of all hikers and mountain bikers to move with foresight and respect on alpine pastures and meadows. Any signs and information boards must be observed!
