"The Mountain Rescuers" - The episodes & their locations Season 16 | Episode 5
The year is drawing to a close and so is the 16th season of Bergretter. It comes to its grand finale with a whole lot of drama. In this blog post, you can find out more about the content and filming locations of the final episode:
For Markus, this final episode begins with a terrible accident. He is on a ski tour with Frederik Falkner when the weather changes. Against Markus' advice, Frederik continues the tour when a snow cornice comes loose and he falls to his death in front of the mountain rescuer. At the same time, an armored car has an accident. As the helicopter is called out on this mission, Markus has to hold out in a cave with the corpse in the meantime. But he is not alone there...
Andrea Gschwandtner, the driver involved in the accident, also sought shelter in the cave. She fled with the money after the crash. She already makes a strange impression on Markus, but he feels it is his duty to take Andrea down to the valley in the helicopter. Halfway down the road, Alex suddenly reports on the radio that the driver of the car that crashed is on the run and that she is in danger. And so the drama takes its course once again...
The radio message triggers a knee-jerk reaction in Andrea. She threatens Michi and Markus with a gun and forces them to make a stopover. Andrea has nothing left to lose, she has cancer. She wants to use the stolen money to do one last favor for a work colleague who has been in a wheelchair since an accident in which she feels partly to blame. Slowly, Nina, Alex, Katharina and the others begin to suspect that something is wrong and get to the bottom of the story. They manage to track down the trio and convict Andrea.
As if the events weren't drama enough for Markus, Alex finally breaks up with him in the last scene and Nina also leaves the farm. This final episode ends with a comforting embrace between Markus and Katharina.

As an attentive viewer of the series, you will have recognized where the last scene was filmed, right? This 16th season ended at the Pernerhof, the filming location of Emilie's farm.
