Ski swing NEW:
From winter 2025/26, two state-of-the-art cable cars will improve skiing fun in the 4-mountain ski area
The Hauser Kaibling and Planai ski mountains are working on two pioneering infrastructure projects in the 4-mountain ski area this summer: from December 2025, the new 10-seater gondola lift "Senderbahn Hauser Kaibling" and the 8-seater chairlift "Mitterhausalm I" on the Planai will provide even faster, more comfortable and more efficient connections between the two ski mountains.
Comfort redefined - in both directions
Whether from the Planai to Hauser Kaibling or vice versa: the new connection saves time and significantly increases ride comfort.
- " Senderbahn Hauser Kaibling" replaces the previous 4-seater chairlift and takes winter sports enthusiasts directly to the Sender plateau in under five minutes - with aerodynamic cabins, wind-stable construction and a comfortable ski interior.
- " Mitterhausalm I" replaces the old "Sonneckbahn" and takes guests from Hauser Kaibling to the Planai in just three minutes - equipped with heated seats, weather protection hoods and high-quality upholstery.
The new lifts offer a transport capacity of up to 3,000 people per hour and noticeably minimize waiting times - a real plus for ski guests, especially families.
Farewell to two pioneers - time for modern successors
The previous lifts - the Sonneckbahn on the Planai and the Senderbahn on the Hauser Kaibling - completed the continuous ski connection between the four mountains in 1998. For over 20 years, they were reliable companions for millions of ski guests. Now they are making way for ultra-modern lifts that meet today's demands - and set new standards:
Mitterhausalm |
8-seater chairlift (Doppelmayr), Planai
On the Planai, the "Mitterhausalm I" replaces the existing Sonneckbahn and offers an even more comfortable connection in the direction of Hauser Kaibling.
- Transport capacity: 2,600 people per hour
- Travel time: only 2.92 minutes
- Comfort features: heated seats, weather protection hoods, upholstery
- Safety: permanently locked footrests, particularly safe for children
"With the new 'Mitterhausalm I' and the Senderbahn, we are jointly sending a strong signal for the further development of the 4-mountain ski area - with a focus on comfort, speed and the guest experience."
- Dir. Georg Bliem, Managing Director Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen
Hauser Kaibling cable car
10-seater gondola lift (Leitner), Hauser Kaibling
The new gondola lift replaces the previous 4-seater chairlift and takes winter sports enthusiasts directly to the transmitter plateau in under five minutes - just one ride away from the highest point of the ski area.
- Transport capacity: 2,800 people per hour
- Travel speed: 6 m/s
- Cabin comfort: aerodynamic shape, wind-stable, ski pockets inside for easy boarding and alighting
- Particularly practical for families
"The new gondola lift is a big step forward for our ski area. The decision to replace the 4-seater chairlift with this more powerful gondola lift was made due to the topography of the terrain and the desire for a shorter ride time. The combination of higher speed, wind stability and family-friendliness raises the skiing experience at Hauser Kaibling to a new level."
- Klaus Hofstätter, Managing Director Hauser Kaibling
Start of construction in spring - opening in December 2025
Both projects will start in spring 2025 and are scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the season in December 2025. Special thanks go to the landowners, authorities, planners and construction companies involved, who are making this ambitious project possible.
With these investments, the region is sending a strong signal for the future of winter tourism: more comfort, more connection, more skiing fun in the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area.
