Excursion tips for rainy weather
Cold drizzle, cloudy skies, a gloomy mood - unfortunately, life is not always all sunshine and fantastic weather conditions, and on some days the sun has to take a break. Even if these days invite you to curl up on the couch in a blanket, there are also special natural phenomena to discover in rainy weather, true to the motto "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing".
If the weather does banish you completely indoors, there are a number of exciting guided tours, museum visits and indoor activities for young and old in the region:
A short hike in the rain - ever tried it?
Many hikers are lured into the mountains by the imperial weather and deep blue skies, but passing wafts of mist or raindrops on leaves or spider webs also create an impressive, almost mystical atmosphere. In addition to these impressive natural spectacles, there are also other advantages: You can enjoy the silence and beauty of nature to yourself and are unlikely to meet like-minded people, even on otherwise well-traveled routes. Perhaps one or two animal inhabitants will cross your path, drawn out of hiding by the high humidity. If you don't want to wear sun cream again, it's less of a problem on rainy days as you're less likely to get sunburnt. So off to new adventures!
Do you already know the Panorama Trail 100?
This long-distance hiking trail takes you either north or south of the Enns through various villages and offers impressive views. The tour is an experience even in rainy weather. You don't have to walk the whole trail at once. Simply choose individual stages that you like. You will find suitable suggestions for partial sections in the route description.
Bad weather program for children
Rainy weather = boredom? In Gröbming, for example, there is a bouldering room for climbing fun or in the Sölktäler Nature Park, 40 different stations, a giant slide or trampolines await you in the indoor adventure climbing park. Even the little ones won't get bored!
Experience and discover culture
Unique and fascinating impressions as well as historical anecdotes from the Enns Valley can be explored in many local museums, from the Schladming town museum to Admont Abbey. At Trautenfels Castle, at the foot of the mighty Grimming, for example, there is currently a special exhibition on the themes of "Man, world and thing. A region tells its story" and "Signal from the Dachstein".
Wool is processed into high-quality loden fabrics in the region according to ancient tradition. A visit to the Lodenwalke Ramsau or the Steiner1888Wollwelt will give you a first-hand insight into the production process.
