5 fall highlights Things you should definitely experience in the region during the golden season

Colorful, colorful, autumn. Blue skies, orange-red glowing forests, white mountain peaks. Nature is showing its contrasting and colorful side. But the autumn season also has a lot to offer from a culinary perspective. In this blog, we reveal 5 highlights that you shouldn't miss out on in our region!

1) Enjoy the tranquillity of the water

With the idyll of autumn comes a certain calm. A tranquillity that can be felt even more clearly on the shores of the lakes. Where, as here at Lake Putterersee, just a few weeks ago many bathers were refreshing themselves with a dip in the cool water, families of ducks are now swimming their laps. The Duisitzkarsee or the Steirischer Bodensee also offer a wonderful backdrop for enjoying the fall to the fullest.

2) Take a walk in the red and gold larch forest

What could be more beautiful than a hike through the forest in autumn, when the trees are dressed in orange and the paths are covered in leaves? A special natural phenomenon takes place year after year at Brandriedel - a firework display of glowing larches with a view of the Dachstein triumvirate. Isn't this view breathtakingly beautiful?

3) A culinary fall classic:

When it's autumn in the region and the larches on the Brandriedel are slowly changing color, it's not just this backdrop that calls you to Ramsau. A stop at the Brandalm for the legendary doughnut weeks is part of the tradition when you are out and about at the foot of the Dachstein. From typical Styrian doughnuts to meat doughnuts and sweet farmer's doughnuts, you'll find everything your palate desires from the beginning of October until All Saints' Day. The taste of the freshly made Steirerkrapfen cannot be described, you simply have to try them.

4) Escape the morning fog with the gondola

Even if the view in the morning into the monotonous gray sometimes just tempts you to spend the day wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, there are tremendous natural spectacles waiting for you on the mountains in the morning that you shouldn't miss!

Out of the fog, into the gondola. A view like this is worth it! Above the clouds...

5) Enjoy game specialties

Whether it's deer, chamois or stag delicacies - eating game is another culinary highlight that shouldn't be missing from your bucket list in the fall. Which game dish do you prefer?
