Support for the young ski mountaineer from Gröbming

The Schladming-Dachstein Tourism Association is now supporting the young ski mountaineer Elias Peer from Gröbming. The 18-year-old athlete from Gröbming Ski Club is regarded as a promising talent in ski mountaineering. Schladming-Dachstein is thus strengthening its commitment to local athletes. In addition to Peer, the region already supports biathlete Tamara Steiner and cross-country skier Mika Vermeulen.

Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of the Schladming-Dachstein Tourist Board, on the new partnership: "With Elias Peer, we are now supporting a promising athlete in ski mountaineering - a sport that will be an Olympic sport for the first time in 2026 and is also experiencing an enormous upswing as a leisure activity. Together with Tamara Steiner and Mika Vermeulen, we now have a great trio of local athletes at our side who will represent Schladming-Dachstein as ambassadors to the outside world. We are proud to be working with such great athletes and wish them a successful start to the season."

Tailwind from home

Elias Peer is also delighted with the TVB's commitment: "The Schladming-Dachstein region is both home and a source of strength for me. I am delighted to continue on my path with a strong regional partner at my side and to achieve new goals together. It is something special to feel so much support and I will try to use this tailwind to achieve my sporting goals."

The ski mountaineer from Gröbming became Austrian champion in the U18 category last year and has already achieved very good placings in the ISMF Youth World Cup. His first competitions start in mid-December in Crévacol, Italy. By the way: The Ski Mountaineering World Cup will take place in the Schladming-Dachstein region again on March 14 and 15, 2025. The legendary finish slope and the slopes of the Planai will then be the venue for the international ski mountaineering elite for the third time.
