Tour description
This circular tour takes you through several districts of the municipality of Stainach-Pürgg. Starting from the Stainach-Irdning train station, you'll hike from Stainach out to the village of Pürgg, where you'll find interesting sights like the St. John's Chapel and the parish church. A stop at the Krenn Inn or the small café by the swimming pool is also recommended. On the way back, you'll hike through the Unterburg district back to Stainach.

From the north exit of Stainach-Irdning train station, head left/west and then turn right onto Dr.-Frank-Allee. Walk slightly uphill to the main road and cross it to the sidewalk on the other side. Walk to the left to the Red Cross and immediately after, turn right onto Schlossweg. At the first fork in the road, keep left and walk out of Stainach toward Pürgg. The gentle climb leads below the Rantenstein through the forest to Pürgg. You first reach the Schwarzbauer farm and walk down its access road to the eastern end of the small village. Now walk into the village, past the Johanneskapelle Chapel to the intersection by the fire station. Uphill to the right, you can take a small detour to the swimming pool with the Kleines Café, and downhill to the left is the Krenn Inn and the parish church.
After a break in the beautiful village, take the path between the inn and the parish church down towards Unterburg. If you wish, you can also reach Pürgg train station from here, from where regional trains will take you back to Stainach. The footpath takes you to the village of Unterburg at the foot of Pürgg in just a few minutes. Turn left along the main road through the village and follow the road until you reach Salzburger Straße, which you follow to the left into the village. After about 500 meters, cross the road at the junction for the sewage treatment plant and follow the road over the railway overpass to the south side of the railway line. Walk along this road back to Stainach-Irdning train station, which you reach at its south exit.

Trail conditions
Take the B320 to Stainach-Irdning and then exit towards the city center. Follow the signs to the train station. Parking at the station is exclusively for ÖBB customers. Apart from these, parking is limited.Parking is available in the town center of Stainach near the town hall. From here, follow Salzburger Straße west until you reach the junction with the tour at the Red Cross.
Take the train to Stainach-irdning station. The route starts directly there.
A small backpack is helpful so you can bring a snack and a drink. A good jacket and pants are essential. Good, waterproof shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen are also essential, as is a small first aid kit.
